Mike Mullen BMX Academy

On Friday, we were incredibly lucky as a school to welcome former BMX World Champion, Mike Mullen into our school. Mike started the day by delivering an assembly to the whole school. It was truly inspirational to hear about the way that Mike overcome challenges during his BMX career in order to become the best in the World. He gave all of our children a great understanding of how to overcome failure in order to learn, or as Mike could call it 'flearning'. He then finished the assembly with a skill display that took the children's breath away!

For the rest of the day our Year 5 and 6 children were lucky enough to participate in BMX workshops with Mike, who taught them all a wide range of tricks so they could apply his concept of flearning in action. Mike said he was really impressed with the ability of our Year 6 children who he was able to teach advanced skills, and he was also incredibly proud of some of our Year 5 children who learnt to ride a bike during the session!

We were incredibly lucky to have such an inspirational day with Mike Mullen and thank him for coming to visit our school.
