Starting school in Reception
Welcome to Reception at Winyates Primary School! We are excited to be part of the very beginning of your child’s learning journey.

We are a caring, vibrant community where every child is valued and encouraged to grow and belong and we are proud of the nurturing environment we provide. We aim to help make your child’s transition into Reception smooth and enjoyable.

Parent/school Relationship
We know that parents play a vital role in their child’s learning, and we love working closely with families to support every child to achieve their very best. We value your views and recognise that you are your child’s first and most important educators. Our doors are always open, and we warmly welcome parents into our unit, encouraging you to join in and be part of your child’s learning journey throughout the year.

To help you stay involved, we use Tapestry, an online journal that records all the learning and fun of your
child’s early years education. You will receive a personal login from the school to access your child’s learning journey.
How can you support your child?
-
Contributing to Tapestry and record any reading at home - we love to hear what your child has been up to!
-
Attend parent meetings or appointments.
-
Join us at any workshops, where you will be invited into the school to immerse yourself in your child's learning.
What do I need to remember to bring in?
-
Your child’s reading books in their book bag
-
Water bottles
-
Clothing provided for all weathers (sun hat and sun cream in the summer; hat, gloves, coat in the winter)
