Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education helps pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to thrive as members of society.

PSHE and Citizenship is taught weekly as part of the curriculum.  It has a positive influence in developing healthy relationships within school and establishes strong links with our Christian Values. Children are encouraged to understand the need for personal hygiene and to develop good practices in health education.  Outside agencies, such as the school nurse and other similar professionals also contribute to the children’s awareness of the development of a healthy body and mind.

At Winyates we follow the Cambridgeshire Primary Personal Development plan and circle times and drama are used to help children express and understand their emotions.  The areas of work for personal development are:

  • Myself and my relationships

    • Beginning and belonging

    • Me and my emotions
