We aim to ensure all pupils:
Understand and respond to spoken and written language from a variety of authentic sources.
Speak with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity, finding ways of communication what they want to say, including through discussion and asking questions and continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation.
Can write at varying length, for different purposes and audiences, using the variety of grammatical structures that they have learned.
Discover and develop an appreciation of a range of writing in the language studied.
We have close links with Ormiston Bushfield Academy and some of our former pupils who now attend this secondary school, are currently being targeted to work towards taking French at GCSE. As the children have the opportunity to learn French at Winyates, OBA has noticed a big difference in the knowledge of children when they arrive in Year 7. It is working alongside each other that has developed an easier transition for the children, pushing them forward in their language learning journey.
