Year 5 Victorian Immersion Day
On Friday 14th September the Year 5 class took a trip back in time and to the start of the day, the children had their nail inspection and were introduced to life in school during Victorian times. They learnt about the 3 'R's' - Reading Writing and Arithmetic as well as learning about 'The Lord's Prayer'. Next, they learnt about how the Victorians wrote and the fact that you had to use your right hand. The children worked really hard to write their names and a sentence, using a quill and ink. Just before lunch, they looked at some Victorian artefacts and the children made some interesting links to what the items would have been used for. Maybe you could have an attempt at what they are and what they were used for?
After lunch, they explored some of the games children would have played and how they were generally about sharing and working together. Finally the children had a Victorian tea party, where they all enjoyed a piece of Victoria sponge and discussed their journey.
