Spring Term PE – Wednesday 3rd January 2018
This term we will be consolidating our previous learning of Football and Netball by developing our use of attacking and defending tactics within these sports. Additionally, we will be learning some complex Gymnastic skills, as well as how to perform various different ways of vaulting. Our PE lessons will be remaining on the same days this term so PE kits are needed in school on a Thursday and a Friday. A good PE kit should include a Winyates PE t-shirt (available from total clothing for only £5) or a plain white t-shirt, black or blue shorts or tracksuit trousers and a black or blue jacket/jumper. Earrings should also be removed on PE days and long hair should be tied up. Finally trainers need to be in PE kits as we will be going outside for some of our lessons and it may be good to include spare socks in case they get wet.

After packing our bags ready for our departure later today, we went out on Tinkerbell the power boat. Each of us even got to have a go at steering it around the reservoir.
Following that, we went orienteering. Using a map and clues from our instructor, we worked in teams to find out information about Grafham Water. Overall we had a brilliant week and really learnt a lot about teamwork as well as conquering our fears to achieve some incredible things.
Grafham Water Residential – Thursday 23rd November
We started the day on the indoor climbing wall. The children encountered a number of challenges which enabled them to conquer their fears and aim for the top.
In the afternoon, we went for a bike ride around Grafham Water and then tested our skills on the bike track. This evening we will be having an awards ceremony.
Grafham Water Residential – Wednesday 22nd November
After a delicious hot breakfast, the children headed out to the woods to participate in Bush Craft. First of all they had to use their skills to build a shelter, before learning how to make a fire! Using the fire, the children heated up their squash and cooked marshmallows!
During the afternoon we all learnt how to be successful at archery. Finally this evening we took part in the ‘Grafham Challenge’.
Grafham Water Residential – Tuesday 21st November
This morning the children enjoyed paddling out in Canadian canoes. This was followed up with pioneering whereby the children had to use their problem solving skills to build a bridge over water, using barrels, ropes and wooden poles. After lunch we secured our harnesses in preparation for the crate stacking activity. We had to work together to build a tower as tall as possible before it collapsed!
This evening we will be venturing out into the darkness for a night walk.
Grafham Water Residential – Monday 20th November
Today we arrived at Grafham Water full of excitement for the week ahead. When we got here the first thing that we had to do was to settle into our rooms. Next up we went out onto the high ropes course where we conquered our fears to complete the challenges that were set before us.
