Year 5/6 Hockey County Finals!

Today we took part in the County Hockey tournament where all of the best teams from the whole of Cambridgeshire come together to see who are the very top schools.

This meant that the tournament contained 20 schools who were all initially split into groups of 5. Within the group stage the children were caught a bit cold in our first match and lost 2-0 to Harston & Newton Primary School, however we bounced back to win an incredible 5-0 in our second match against Cambridge International School. Next we faced Kingsfield Primary School and came out as 4-0 winners, before ending the group stage with a 4-1 win over Westfield Primary School. Overall this meant that we finished in 2nd place in our group and progressed on to the quarter final.

In the quarter final we faced Swavesey Primary School and after a very tight match came back to draw 2-2. The result was then decided on goals scored across the day meaning that we progressed through to the semi final. This was a very tough match and we lost to the eventual winners Hemingford Grey Primary School. Our day then culminated in the 3rd/4th playoff match which we were beaten by St Thomas Moore Primary School meaning that we finished in an incredible 4th place in the whole County!

Mr Carson-Doughty and Mrs Firth who were working with the team all day could not have been more prouder of this incredible performance and the way the children competed all day. Well done to all of the players!
