Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Winyates School, we pride ourselves on an inclusive and personalised education for all children, with a supportive team in place. Our SEND team work together with the class teachers to organise effective teaching and learning for the children who have specific educational needs and/or disabilities. Winyates School shows its commitment to providing an appropriate curriculum for children with special needs by employing a Teaching Assistant in every class.
The school supports the LEA’s policy that, wherever possible, children with special      educational needs should be integrated into school.  The school building has a number of facilities for children with physical disabilities: corridor doors are wide enough for wheelchairs and there is a disabled toilet by the school office.
If you would like to arrange to speak to an Educational Psychologist, parents can call the consultation line, to make an appointment. Appointments are offered on a first come, first served basis once a month on Tuesdays (during term time only) between 1pm and 4pm, on (01733) 863690.
